Why people choose Kalari Rasayana
- Authentic Ayurvedic Treatments
- Serene Environment
- Luxury rooms
- Experienced Ayurvedic doctors
Adhering to the strictest principles of healing and holistic wellness, Kalari Rasayana is a unique therapeutic sanctuary. It offers the same unadulterated Ayurvedic experience as its renowned "elder brother," the Kalari Kovilakom palace in Kerala.
Resort Overview
Kalari Rasayana is not a typical beach resort. It is a place of deep immersion—a lifestyle retreat dedicated to the ancient Indian traditions of Ayurveda.
Located 54 km north of Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala, the estate spans 8 hectares of lush coconut groves along the lake shores. The resort features 22 well-appointed suites and a dedicated Ayurvedic clinic with 11 treatment rooms.
The journey to wellness includes Yoga, meditation, Kalari practices, therapeutic aqua-yoga, and lakeside walks, all complemented by traditional oil therapies as prescribed in the Vaidya.
A New Way of Life:
The most significant change to your daily routine will be the complete absence of coffee, tea, meat, fish, eggs, bread, and sugar. Alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited. While internet and phone access are available, guests are strongly encouraged to leave the outside world behind upon entering Kalari Rasayana.
Attire:
Upon arrival, guests are provided with three sets of cotton "pyjama" suits and a pair of slippers. Since the retreat is self-contained, you will not need much clothing. We recommend bringing only a light shawl, swimwear, and personal essentials.

Medical Team & Treatments
True Ayurvedic healing begins only after a total detoxification of the body. As with any deep cleanse, the initial days may feel challenging. It is essential to arrive with an open heart, ready to collaborate with your physicians to overcome health obstacles rather than resisting the process.
The Detox Process:
The cleansing phase involves the ingestion of medicated ghee (oils). The dosage increases daily, during which you will follow a restricted diet of light meals and herbal infusions. The goal is to fully saturate the body with therapeutic oils—a process that typically takes at least three days, depending on the individual.
Following oil therapy, the doctor will transition you to a standard Ayurvedic diet for a few days before beginning specific medicines. Only then does the primary therapy commence, featuring various massages and treatments using herbal powders and medicated oils. Once detoxified, you will typically receive two massage treatments per day, each lasting 90 to 120 minutes.
Wellness Programs
In accordance with Ayurvedic principles, programs at Kalari Rasayana range from two to four weeks. Following an in-depth consultation, treatments are tailored to each guest’s constitution (Prakriti) and specific health concerns.
Rasayana Chikitsa (Anti-Aging) – 28 Days
True rejuvenation can only occur after the body is purified. This program combines specialized treatments with a specific diet and lifestyle to slow cellular degeneration and boost immunity.
Manashanthy (Stress Management) – 14 Days
A targeted program designed to combat burnout, insomnia, lack of concentration, and fatigue.
Pancha Karma (Total Detox) – 21 or 28 Days
The world-renowned "Shodhana" (purification) process. At Kalari Rasayana, Panchakarma is practiced with clinical intensity, strictly following the ancient Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita texts.
Sthanlyakina Chikitsa (Weight Management) – 21 or 28 Days
A comprehensive metabolism-altering program involving medicated steam baths, herbal teas, and specific procedures designed to accelerate fat metabolism alongside yoga practice.
Yoga & Meditation
Yoga sessions are held daily.
Nutrition
A purely vegetarian, salt-free, caffeine- and sugar-free diet is served.
Meals are prepared individually for each guest based on the doctor's daily instructions.
Food is grown in the hotel's own organic garden. The diet is designed to direct the body's energy toward self-healing rather than divert it to digestion.
